Real Quick "King's Cage" by Victoria Aveyard Review

Book: King's Cage

Author: Victoria Aveyard

My Rating: ★★1/2 (... if that)

Synopsis: In this breathless third installment to Victoria Aveyard’s bestselling Red Queen series, allegiances are tested on every side. And when the Lightning Girl's spark is gone, who will light the way for the rebellion?

Mare Barrow is a prisoner, powerless without her lightning, tormented by her lethal mistakes. She lives at the mercy of a boy she once loved, a boy made of lies and betrayal. Now a king, Maven Calore continues weaving his dead mother's web in an attempt to maintain control over his country—and his prisoner.

As Mare bears the weight of Silent Stone in the palace, her once-ragtag band of newbloods and Reds continue organizing, training, and expanding. They prepare for war, no longer able to linger in the shadows. And Cal, the exiled prince with his own claim on Mare's heart, will stop at nothing to bring her back.

When blood turns on blood, and ability on ability, there may be no one left to put out the fire—leaving Norta as Mare knows it to burn all the way down.

Annoyed. That's the word I would use to describe how I feel about "King's Cage".  Also the phrase "I don't care" comes to mind. I didn't care about any of the characters, what was happening in the book, basically everything about it. The writing was meehhhh, the plot was mehhhhh, and the character growth was a joke. There was nothing that really spoke out to me, and that sucks because I really enjoyed the first book, but everything since there has been downhill. The only reason why I haven't DNFed this series is because I do want to know how it ends because the original concept is cool it's just that the execution has been subpar since then.

I know this was a really short review, but that basically sums up all of my feelings on this book, which in itself should tell you the quality of the book in my mind. I didn't love it, like it, or hate it. It was just meh.
